All the artwork of these games - the cards, game board, baskets and box – are hand-painted with watercolor by artist Lenora Dontens. Kallanpa & Kallaquinto has been selected for art exposition “Forever Young” in the Netherlands. It is the artist’s goal to introduce people and children to the astonishing beauty of aquarelle and to teach them a bit about nature. As a young girl, the artist was inspired by hand-drawn Disney movies like Sleeping Beauty and by wonderful paintings and drawing in museums. These days, loads of illustrations are made digitally, which means that children no longer get in touch with the classic art forms of drawing and painting. Children tend to want to touch things they find beautiful, but they can’t put their fingers on paintings. These games allow them to explore and hold paintings in their hands. Kallanpa & Kallaquinto has been at the game fair Spel in Belgium and children enjoyed playing the games and learning different species of mushrooms. They were also amazed by the fact that the illustrations were originally painted with watercolor.

In board game Kallanpa, you’ll encounter all sorts of mushrooms on your way. Do you manage to be the first to collect 4 identical edible mushrooms in your basket? You can use the different forces of the truffles strategically to help you win or you can try to sabotage your opponents. Complete more quintets than your opponents and win Kallaquinto!
In card game Kallaquinto, you’re going to try to collect 5 identical mushrooms to form a quintet, but be careful! You can only keep 8 cards on hand, so you’ll have to choose which cards you keep and which cards you discard. Try to trade cards with your opponents and use the truffles wisely to cover for missing mushrooms. You can also take truffles from your opponents if you have their mushroom. Do you manage to get the dice card to protect your quintet against swap basket? Events can both increase or hinder your chances of winning and you’ll have to think strategically to complete quintets. Kallaquinto is played with the cards and dice, therefore it’s ideal to take with you on holiday or on a road trip.

The pawns and dice are made of wood. The boxes are closed with stickers and the cards, pawns and dice are wrapped in paper. In addition, Kallanpa & Kallaquinto are produced by a CO2-neutral factory in Germany. All of this is done to give the best quality possible and the greatest gaming experience.

In addition, Kallanpa & Kallaquinto is educational. All of the mushrooms and animals in the games are real mushrooms and animals. At the end of the game rules is a compendium with the scientific names and information about each and every single mushroom and animal. Mushrooms are oftentimes overlooked and according to science, 90% of fungal diversity is still undiscovered. On top of that, the 5 poisonous mushroom cards, have 1 to 3 skulls based on their actual toxicity. It’s a great way to learn a bit about nature in a casual way.
